Choose the heat pump system that will keep you comfortable and keep your electricity bill as low as possible. Upgrading your HVAC system is a big investment, so it’s key to hire a trustworthy contractor and ensure you’re installing the right system for your home. The journey starts with researching trusted local contractors, then getting multiple quotes to compare. But even the best contractors may not automatically provide all the information you need in a format that makes it easy to compare between options. Heat pump quotes come in a variety of formats, and sorting through the details to make the right decision can feel a bit daunting. In this webinar we’ll talk with experienced heat pump installers to learn how you can navigate this process as smoothly as possible to ensure the best outcome, including: What to discuss with potential contractors, including what to ask, and what to share with them about your home and comfort issues. How to differentiate one quote from another, including price, equipment, performance specifications and potential energy savings. How to request information that enables you to make an apples to apples comparison between different manufacturers and system options. What to expect from a professional quote, including a load calculation, duct evaluation, specific brand and model numbers, and a comprehensive list of charges and incentives. How to understand and compare contractor load calculations and design temperatures. What you need to know from the contractor for warm climates compared to cold climates. Why it is important to know when backup resistance heating will be needed and if you can avoid that added operating cost. What pitfalls to avoid when evaluating a contractor and their proposed estimate.

You've heard heat pumps are the future. Maybe your neighbor got one. Maybe you're sick of your gas bill. Maybe you just want AC. But then you started researching and hit a wall. Which system is right for my house? How do I know if a quote is fair? How do I find a contractor I can trust? This session is for homeowners who've decided they want a heat pump, but don't know where to start. What we'll cover (in plain English): What to expect from your first contractor call to installation day How to read a quote without being a mechanical engineer Red flags to watch for (and green flags too) Permits: boring but important (and we'll tell you why) Your burning questions, answered live Who's leading this: Shreyas isn't your typical HVAC guy. He's a mechanical engineer, a former rocket engineer (yes, actual rockets), and a licensed California HVAC contractor. Why should you care? Because most homeowners only ever talk to salespeople. Shreyas is the rare contractor who can actually explain why one system makes sense over another, not just push what's on the truck. He writes obsessively about heat pumps and has seen every kind of install: the great, the questionable, and the "who approved this?" He'll tell you what he'd do if it were his house. Who's this for: Homeowners who are heat pump-curious but decision-paralyzed Anyone who's gotten a quote and thought to themselves..."How do I read this? Is this right?" People who want to electrify without getting burned by a contractor The details: 45 minutes, with live Q&A Recording available afterward Grab your spot. Bring your quotes. Bring your questions. Get pumped. Celebrating CA Heat Pump Week and Earth Day in partnership with Switch Is On.
